You cannot ignore it any longer, bestie. TikTok is here to stay—and it’s time to hop on board.
Buuuuut, when you first get on the app (or first start creating for the app), it can be overwhelming. How are you supposed to know what content to create? How do you know what’s gonna work?
Luckily, analyzing successful videos has been my obsession for over two years now, so I thought it might be fun to show you a few recent videos I’ve seen & saved (and why I think they work so well, especially for businesses)!
Let’s dive in.
Affordable Furniture by @mrphoenixgray
Phoenix Gray is an interior designer and self-proclaimed Design Daddy. He made this great TikTok video about where to find quality couches for cheaper-than-luxury prices. At the time of my writing this, the video has 163.4K views and 16.9K likes.
Here’s What Works
Phoenix makes use of an incredible hook, painting the picture for his audience of a problem they might already have—wanting a high quality couch, but not being able to afford one. Once he peaks our interest, he then uses the green screen effect to show us examples of his favorite affordable furniture stores. The video itself is engaging, and since he’s providing so many resources, we’re enticed to save the video to our favorites, too. (Favorit-ing boosts the algorithm, btw!)
A Win-Win Vlog by @seethewayisee
See the Way I See is an apparel shop focused on designs that destigmatize mental health. This recent video got 1.1 million views and 136.6K likes—and if you watch it, you’ll see why!
Here’s What Works
What’s so cool about this video is that it’s a win-win situation. Not only does she get to directly promote the designs of her new launch via her non-salesy vlog approach, but she gets to feature another really cool business in the process. Next time you collaborate with someone (or hire another service provider to help you), consider vlogging like this!
Style Aesthetic Guide by @stylingwithkenzie
Kenzie is a stylist specializing in affordable fashion—and while I don’t often see non-talking videos do very well on TikTok anymore, this video has 1M views and 144K likes!
Here’s What Works
Right off the bat, we have a clip of her face (very important for brand recognition!) and a title introducing us to the content of the video. Then, each subsequent clip has more value than we are even able to read in the amount of time allotted. But it doesn’t really matter, because we are so hell-bent on categorizing ourselves into one of the ~aesthetics~ she lays out that we might have to even watch the video a second time. Sneaky sneaky!
